Heidi Mann feels called to use her God-given expertise at good writing to help people share their ideas articulately and present themselves professionally and credibly. Her company, Final Touch Proofreading & Editing, was born of the joy Heidi finds in making anything from brief correspondence to full-length books truly shine. While fanatical about good writing, Heidi exhibits a gentle grace with each writer.
Heidi has copyedited articles, newspaper columns, books (fiction, nonfiction; for all ages), Bible studies, correspondence, and web content to assist writers in communicating their messages as clearly as possible. Authors bring Heidi their phenomenal content and varying levels of grammatical knowledge; she works closely with them so they can feel proud about their final product.
Heidi served as a Lutheran pastor for almost 14 years before starting her own copyediting company. In parish ministry, she used and further developed her natural gifts for written and oral communication, and for grace-filled interpersonal relationships. Her core belief that ministry can be accomplished by anyone who uses their abilities to serve others led to her professional transition. Calling herself a progressive Christian, Heidi holds a special place in her heart for those whose writing taps into the realm of spiritual growth and for the marginalized in society.
Final Touch Proofreading & Editing offers individualized care for writer and written word alike. Heidi loves reading and learning from the variety of writing shared with her. She reviews writing and suggests alterations at whatever level an author desires—basic proofreading, copyediting, substantive editing—valuing your work as she would her own.
The first public recognition Heidi received for her written-language skills was exemption from 8th-grade Grammar. Her excellent writing contributed to her role as Valedictorian of her high school class, her graduation summa cum laude from college, and hundreds of well-received sermons and church-newsletter articles. Copyediting clients have stated, “I can’t recommend Heidi highly enough; she just flat doesn’t miss stuff” and “Writing without Heidi is like flying without a co-pilot. You can do it, but it’s a lot safer with an extra pair of experienced eyes a mouse-click away.”
Heidi is married and has two young sons.
